Cheap eats in Quarter

I would like to compile a list of all the less expensive restaurants in the French Quarter. I am going for a week next month and may splurge on a couple meals, but I would like cheaper alternatives for the rest.

Please list all the cheaper restaurants you know about. Thanks.

I second Fiorella's and Coops.

Angeli on Decatur also isn't too expensive.

port of call on Esplanade is also great (burgers, baked potatoes, strong drinks)

mama rosa's on rampart (pizza/lunch)

clover grill - fun place especially for late night

krystal (just kidding)

I agree with all of these - Angeli is pretty tasty and I can't BELIEVE I forgot to list Port of Call and Clover Grill! Mama Rosa's is a teeny bit outside the heart of the FQ as is Port of Call, but not far.

And Krystal isn't a bad option at 3 in the morning, LOL!

If you like burgers with interesting topping options, try Yo Mama's on -- I think -- St. Phillip. (Erica is an awesome bartender). They also have a great gumbo.

I love Oceana Grill on Conti. But ask the price for the items that don't show a price, so you don't get surprised.

Petunia's (on St. Louis) is suberb and the portions are huge!

I had a delivery from Golden Wall Chinese that was very good.

Deja Vu on Conti is still pretty iffy, but the crowd is colorful.

DO NOT even attempt food at the Rio (next door to the Deva Vu). Really.

I have been to Remoulade twice since Katrina and won't go there again.

Oh, and don't forget to save room for a Lucky Dog for a late night munch.

Clover grill. Very inexpensive. Greasy spoon type but with a lot of character.

You can find late-night food pretty readily but, of course, the nicer places close at 11 or so.

My favorite place is the ZydeQ behind the Bourbon Cowboy, first block of Bourbon, great food great price $10 to $15 (best roasted chicken I've every ate), Oceana is very good about $13 range, Yo MaMa's has very good burgers with a bake potatoe, $8 and great gumbo $6 (when they have it), Tropical Ilse has a good taco salad that will feed 2 to 4 -$10, Country Flame has fair to good steaks $12 to $14, Jazz Taco very inexpensive and good mexican food, Frank's has a great Muffeletta about $10 (spelling?, abig round sandwich), clover grill good food but the service is "unusal". For New Orleans any under $10 is cheap. Then you have the McDonalds, Burger King, Subway, etc.
