New Orleans Parking

I'm going to be staying in New Orleans this weekend, and we have a room at Bourbon Orleans. They charge $30/day for parking and we were wondering if there were any other places nearby where we could park for the weekend that might be a little more affordable.

Thanks!

There is a fairly cheap lot at the corner of Elysian Fields and Decatur, right off Esplanade Ave. It's a few blocks from the hotel, but it's definitely cheaper than $30/day.

There are also several parking lots closer to your hotel on N. Peters along the river, and I'm guessing 24 hrs in those lots would be closer to $20-25/day.

Thanks for your reply.

Do you have to go pay every day? Or could we leave our car there till we leave?

If you can get a parking space on the street at a meter it will be free for the weekend, just be sure of where you park. All kind of confusing signs about when and where it's ok to park. There is also a lot on Canal just a little ways from the casino that has $10 a day parking. I usually park at one of the 2 mentioned here.

If you want free parking-park at Harrah's garage, get a players card and play for an hour, get it validated and your parking is paid. Most people think this is too much trouble, but we always drive to NO, and we may be staying in the French Quarter, but we always play a little at Harrah's, and we usually don't need our car until it's time to come home.

On second thought.......you only have to play at Harrah's for 30 min to get free parking.

Are you driving in town or flying in and renting a car? If it is the latter, then skip the rental and just use cabs for where you are. If you are driving, then just remember to not leave anything in the car in sight and that parking is free on the weekends at any meters (as someone else already pointed out). Drive around and see what you find that suits you.
