If Hotwire is listing it as a "Downtown New Orleans" hotel, then I think it's the Le Pavillon hotel - the description matches.

Hi Paul,

We're looking for a good hotel deal too. Just for your information - Bookit.com has a 4 diamond hotel listed for $75 through Dec 30 and since it has 707 rooms (!) it matches:

www.astorhotelneworleans (Crown Plaza) It's right on Canal.

Now I need to check out your 4.5 star at hotwire!

When is your stay? Ours will be in October.

The Astor for $75/ nite thru Dec is a really good deal...I was going to take that but found hotwire for $49/ nite at the Astor..Put in for French Quarter 4 star and the $49/ nite came up for next month.

Brahmama, Truth be told,I have no concrete plans at the moment to go to NOLA. Believe me I want to. It just isn't in the cards. Having said that, I'm always on the lookout for a great deal. Who knows, maybe, just maybe, if everything alligns just right, good airfare ,great hotel rate, I can steal away for a long weekend. Well, I can always dream. You have a great time in October. Maybe I'll see you there!

Hey Paul, I understand totally. I have always planned trips by first of all finding a place that I could afford to go and stay - we've always had to watch the $$$. And now that we aren't as broke as we used to be, it's just a habit. What's the use of spending extra money? My kids spend money like water - and don't have it to spend and they think I'm um - well - tight I guess. I prefer to call it FRUGAL! I think I got it from my German Grandmother.

Good luck - if I find a great deal for October (AND I WILL!) I'll let you know.
