Bachelor Weekend over Mem. Day (5/21-5/25)?

I am organizing am extended bachelor party weekend for a group of 35-40 year olds. I have a pretty good sense of the party/strip club scene on Bourbon--but that'll grow tired in about five minutes.

Accordingly, I'm looking for some other suggestions on things to see and do, and I have a number of questions:

- Various people have recommended Jacques-Imo's and the Maple Leaf as a night out. A good plan? If so, is there a preferable night to go (between Fri, Sat, and Sun)? Will we be able to get a table, etc?

- Hotel-wise, I'm looking for a place that's reputable, centrally located, and has an outdoor pool (I haven't been to NOLA in late May, but understand that it's hot). Any recommendations?

- How does Harrah's stack up vs. Vegas casinos? Do they comp drinks? Do they jack up the table limits on weekends? Is there a poker room?

- Where do the locals hang out? We're not really likely to stand on a street corner drinking hurricaines/hand grenades.

- I've read good things about both Rock'n'Bowl and Rock-n-Sake Bar & Sushi. Good choices? What time do people go?

- The gang is from NYC and Boston, so bear with me on this question--Do either of the W hotels have a bar worth hanging out at?

- Are the airboat swap tours worth doing? They seem a little pricy ($70). Any specific operators recommended?

- Best breakfast and/or brunch joints?

- Finally, I will be making my way to Central Grocery for a muffuletta (I have been dreaming about them ever since my first visit). Any recommendations on other decent places to get Muff's and Po' Boys?

Thanks! Obviously, I don't expect anyone to answer all of those questions at once.

I'd definitely recommend a search of this forum, since there are a lot of answers to your questions here.

Jacques-Imo's is closed on Sunday, but expect a long wait during the weekend, especially with a big group. They take reservations for parties of 5+, so you might want to try booking ahead.

The W on Poydras has a nice Whiskey Blue lounge.

Rock N Sake is one of the best places to get sushi in town, so I highly recommend it.

Here's a quick list of the Top Ten bars in New Orleans. Some of them are touristy places so it might now be what you're looking for.

#3 on that list (The Boot) is for high schoolers and college students - avoid!

Also, Rock N Bowl is pretty fun. If you head there around 10pm or so, it's pretty lively.

It is lively (and lots of fun), but vacant tables around that time will probably be nonexistent.

rock n sake is an excellent restaurant in the warehouse district, I'd head there later after stopping by Vics Kangaroo Cafe and Lucy's Retired Surfers bars (both on Tchoupitoulas) for happy hour. I prob. wouldn't go to rock n sake until after 8.

agree with world traveler, as always ;o) the whiskey blue in the w on poydras is pretty nice, although in the nice weather one of the w's offers bikini brunch by the pool. if there's single men in your crowd, that might be up their alley.

try hanging out down on frenchman street for more of a local vibe. Beer at dba, jazz at snug harbour, etc. Sometimes Apple Barrel has decent bands, and it's a much different vibe than bourbon st. I also love the Boondock Saint off of Bourbon for a great pint of Guinness.

have fun!
