Location is good about a 3 block walk to Burbon Street and right across from Riverwalk area. Lots of resturants, etc close to walk to and you can use Canal Street, so your pretty safe. The Casino is nice and is also a good size. We did'nt stay at the hotel but were in the casino a few nights and had dinner at two of the resturants, both were good and we had breakfast at the buffet, not the best but ok.

Visit No several times a year. Have stayed at Harrah's casino...first class. Located downtown at end of Canal Street next to Quarter. Have found slots to be very tight and tables pricey...but they have a captured audience...only casino in NO. Airport cab fare $28. Worth the experience to visit NO. Great place to visit. Much to see...even after you get over the tourist stuff. Car not needed. Very safe in downtown area...tourist are their lifeline. Locals very helpful and friendly. Summer heat and humidity can be wicked.

Hi Teddybear61. I recognized your user name from the A /C boards. The Harrahs hotel is beautiful, and try to insist on a room in their hotel, not one of the partner hotels. The casino is okay, we never win there. The breakfast buffet is okay. I never ate in the Besh Restaurant in the casino. There are no restauants in the hotel, you have to go to the casino, but there is an underground walkway to do this from the hotel. You will be in walking distance to the french quarter, but my husband who hates walking, thinks it's a far walk, but it is easy to get taxi's in front of the hotel. We always enjoy our trips there. We love the restaurants in the quarter, so we don't eat at Harrahs, except breakfast. By the way, the diamond club serves only cheese and crackers, and drinks. No real food. If you go, enjoy.

The location of Harrah's (both casino and hotel) and all the affiliated properties is suburb. I've stayed at Harrah's Hotel, Hilton Riverside New Orleans, and the "W" New Orleans as a Harrah's guest. Harrah's hotel has outstanding rooms and customer service, no pool. Ruth's Chris on site.

The Hilton New Orleans Riverside has numerous on site restaurants, a massive lobby (2 floors of it),a pool and a massive exercise area (tennis courts, racquetball, basketball, gym), that they charge a nominal extra fee for. Lightning fast elevators. Very good service. The Riverfront street car stops right outside the door of the hotel, (takes you from the hotel along the riverfront with stops along the riverside of the French Quarter). It is an excellent convention hotel, and across the street from Harrah's.

The "W" is even closer, but the rooms are smaller.

It's more like a boutique hotel. The pool area is nice. Customer service here is excellent, including a courtesy limo to take you anywhere within a few miles of the hotel. You can fall out of bed & be in harrah's casino from the W.

I disagree with a previous poster. Stay at any hotel affiliated with Harrah's if offered.

From my late May 2009 trip... *WEEKENDS* table limits are $10 to $15 at craps....$3 minimum at rapid roulette. Blackjack was mostly $15, a few $10. It's a very nicely done New Orleans themed casino.

The casino itself has a Canal street exit, which is at the foot of the French Quarter. The area is absolutely safe. No riffraffs like in AC casinos, guard and entry check at each entrance to the casino. Constant, friendly service at the tables and slots for beverages. Rapid rewards desk is manned & fast, also unlike AC. Numerous restaurant partners (check the Harrah's web site).

After all this, then there is New Orleans..awesome!

Good location and great hotel! There are a lot of awesome restaurants in the Warehouse District a few blocks from the hotel, not to mention the French Quarter is a few blocks away too!

Hi Zoke, I mentioned staying in only the Harrahs hotel, because I think they are the nicest of the hotels usually offered. I stayed in the Hilton riverside, and the rooms in the tower are okay, but the river view rooms are not nice at all. I stayed in one of the other ones (can't remember the name now), and it was nice, but not as nice as the Harrahs itself. I thought the Harrahs hotel has some of the nicest rooms around, and I like being able to use their indoor walkway to get to the casino.

We've stayed at Harrah's a few times and loved the rooms there - remind me a little of one of the towers at Harrah's in AC - I think it's Bayview. We usually walk over to the French Quarter - it's just a few short blocks. We've also used the streetcar, stops in front of the casino - usually about a ten minute wait. If you play video poker they do have some decent pay schedules on a few of their machines, primarily dollar ones. It's a fun casino, but quite smokey. Have eaten at Besh Steakhouse twice, both times enjoyed the meal, but there are plenty of other places that are great to eat!

Hi Mitt...

Beyond a doubt the rooms and service at Harrah's hotel is over the top, and a notch above the others.

Those other partner hotels are excellent to very good though, and do have amenities that Harrah's does not, that may be of value to some. I would not turn down a comp room in New Orleans if I could not stay at Harrah's though.

I do agree with you about The Riverside Hilton, ask for the tower rooms, you will get them.

Hi Zoke, I made a fuss last time about being in the Harrahs hotel, and they did put me there. We were platinum at the time. My husband has been diamond ever since, so I think (who really knows) they would give me the hotel I ask for.Teddybear didn't come back on this forum, but if I'm correct,(from the A/C boards), she is diamond or 7 stars, so she should ask for the best place. I haven't been back to NO in about 2 years, I keep getting offers, I have to find out if they would fly us for free. If they do, I'll have to make my way back. They've been very good to their diamond players since the recession started. I told my husband to enjoy it while he can, when the economy picks up, they won't care about us anymore (lol). You are right about some of the services offered at the other hotels, but I wouldn't use them, for instance, I wouldn't pay for breakfast in the hilton, when I can go to the casino buffet and eat for free. we get free food and drinks with harrahs. That's all I would eat with the hotel, because we love the restaurants in new orleans. We'd be out every night for dinner. Oh well, I hope she comes, New orleans is a fun city to visit.

Hello everyone!

Thank you so much for all the advise! I am just more confuse though! Harrahs in NO sounds really nice. I am confused over the other hotels. Are they part of Harrahs? I was offered all of them. That is interesting about seeing if they would fly me. I haven't been offered that.

By the way, I am diamond. I am not sure how much longer though...thanks all!
