Commander's lunch...where to request a table?

We'll have lunch at Commander's in early November in celebration of our anniversary. We love to dine al fresco but I've heard the garden room is the place to sit. Of course, the weather may be a factor. Where should we request a table for a memorable experience?

Garden Room..see if they will serve you a cocktail in the kitchen before you are seated. Commander's is always a very memorable experience. We took friends there from NYC this summer. They are still raving..food was wonderful, especially the 25 cent martinis!! I would definitely mention that it is a special anniversary. Enjoy!

Just FYI (and you are unfortunately too late for this trip), by far the most memorable place to sit at CP is the chef's table in the kitchen. Quite expensive and booked months ahead, but well worth it if you are really into food. Otherwise, I would agree with the Garden Room. Always let a restaurant know when you book the table if it is a special occasion.

If they tell you the the Garden Room is booked, be pleasantly persistent. Let them know you are willing to wait in the bar and that you especially are interested in sitting near the Garden Room glass. Dressing up may help your case.

If it is a "light" day crowd wise, the Garden Room may not be open....lunch at Commander's is always a treat no matter where you sit.
