Harrahs Comp Question...

We have comps available from Harrahs, but the best offers are for the Marriott or the Hilton Riverside instead of the actual Harrahs hotel. This may be a dumb question, but if we stayed at the Marriott or Hilton...do we check in directly at those hotels or do we have to show up at Harrahs first? As you can see, I stress over the little things :) Thanks!

Not a dumb question @ all. Yes, you will check in directly @ the "sister" hotels of Harrah's Casino. I have stayed @ these alternative hotels on many occasions. All alternative hotels are within a 1 or 2 block walk from the casino, they want to keep you close.

Good Luck!

Also, by the way, call a host if possible, and try to get them to switch you to the harrahs hotel. Of course the higher your tier, the easier this may be. Enjoy.

I have stayed at the Hilton Riverside for the last 5 years on a Harrah's comp...usually a 5 day w/e. The last 2 years we have rented a car for the swamp/plantation/etc. thing and parking is free at the Harrah's garage as long as you play for 30 min (no problem). This saves $20-30/day. I'll be there in a week.

Given the choice between the Riverside Hilton and the Marriott, I suggest the Riverside Hilton. It's closer by several blocks to the casino, and the Riverfront Streetcar line stops right outside the door. Ask for a room in the Main Tower. They are very accommodating.

As the previous poster pointed out, park in one of the two Harrah's parking garages. They are located at 501 and 601 Convention Center Blvd, which is the last street you can make a right turn on coming down Poydras towards the river, and right across from the side entrance of the Riverside Hilton. (A two minute walk with your luggage.) Just make sure you get your parking ticket stamped inside the casino. If you're Platinum or higher, no play is necessary for that stamp.

They may still be giving a free buffet each with 30 minutes of play daily. Ask at the Total Rewards cage about that.

As another poster mentioned, if you stay in the hilton riverside, make sure you ask for a tower room. They are decent, but the riverview rooms are not nice at all.

Thank you all for your feedback! With Southwest's 72 hour sale, we can fly for the same or less than driving from Nashville so hopefully we won't have a car to park. I'm booked at the Marriott right now, but am seriously considering switching to the Hilton based on the responses.

We've never been to NO before so we are really looking forward the trip!

My only stay at the Marriott was a couple of weeks after Katrina before my disaster team set up base in St. Bernard Parish. Anyway, it is a fine hotel and closer to Bourbon street while the Hilton is on the River and closer (just a tad) to the Casino. Both are fine.

I always choose the Hilton out of habit and in the AM I can walk downstairs to the mall and hit Cafe du Monde for my beignets and coffee and watch the Mississippi go by.
