Cover Charges on Halloween Weekend?

Our group is back and forth on whether we want to go to the Endless Night Vampire Ball at House of Blues on Saturday the 29th (tight trip budget so not sure if we want to pay $50 for tickets).

Just seeing what our other options are - does anyone know if most bars on Bourbon will be charging cover for Halloween parties that night, or should we be able to barhop for free at most places, even though it's Saturday and Halloween weekend?

You will be able to bar hop from place to place with no charge. You may run across a place that has a one or two drink minimum but I don't remember any doing that when we were there. You will see some amazing costumes.

Thanks for the quick reply - we're mainly wondering if there are going to be cover fees to get in to a lot of the bars, or if we should just pick a party, pay one cover, and stay there most of the night? Where we live (especially on Halloween), you can't get in anywhere without at least a $10-$20 cover charge on weekends.

Woops! I think I only read half of your post before replying!

No charge is good, thank you!! (And a 1 or 2 drink minimum would also be just fine!)

As bcla said, bars with bands may have a cover charge or a drink minimum. Some are one drink per set.

If you're gonna be on Bourbon, you can hear most of the music from the street, and pick a style/bar that you like. The real party is in the street anyway. Roam up and down, pop in for a go-cup here and there and enjoy the zaniness.

Great, we're not really there for the bands too much (will probably head to Frenchmen's one night for that), more for checking out everyone's Halloween costumes and maybe can catch a few bars with contests for that going on.

I had just assumed that a lot of the bars would be hosting their own Halloween parties that Saturday so would turn into a ticket entry, but if it's just like most other Saturdays in the Quarter we should be set!

The marigny section will have their normal covers...frenchmen street...but there are several places that still don't have a cover.
