Sports Bar in French Qtr with NFL Sunday Ticket and Wifi

The subject pretty much says it all. I may be in New Orleans on Xmas weekend and I'm looking for a good sports bar that has the NFL Sunday Ticket and Wifi. It looks like all the NFL games are on Saturday. Can anyone make a recommendation?

Also, I'm just assuming that the French Qtr bars and restaurants will be open on December 24 and 25th. Is this a good assumption?

I don't know about WIFI but you can call em and ask. Crescent City Brewhouse is probably the best place in the FQ to watch sports. They have plenty of TV's on second floor.

Johnny White's is a true sports bar. Turtle Bay is a sports bar also. Chateau Moanet Voila Bar is a sports bar. Broussard's has TV's in their bar and from time to time they have specials to eat and watch the game. Antoine's Herme's Bar has food and TV's.

Walk across Canal on N Peters and go W on S Peters 4/5 blocks to the corner of Lafayette and S Peters to Ernst Cafe which is over 100 years old for good happy hour. They have outdoor tables. Ernst's has 2 # crawfish plates for $5.00 on Friday's. When you leave Ernst's go W a block to Girod and go N 2 blocks to Lucy's Bar on Tchoupitoulas for a good 4 to 7 happy hour and $2.50 beer. Grand Isle is a fine seafood restaurant and raw bar a block S of Ernst's on Fulton.

Thanks Cajun Yank.

For future reference a new sports bar is being built next door to Ernst's Cafe called Manning's. It will be run by Harrah's and the Manning family will contribute a lot of their sports memorabilia. It should be a good one. Right now I think Walk On's is a great choice too. There's another one in the Spanish Plaza by the river but I can't think of the name.

Poppy's is the sports bar at Spanish Plaza. It's a good place to enjoy the games.

In addition to Poppy's, Checkered Parrot in the Holiday Inn on Royal St. (one block off Canal St.) has "all major sports packages for your viewing pleasure." See:

Many, but not all, French Quarter bars will be open Christmas and Christmas Eve (some never close). Restaurants may be a little harder to come by, see:

Probably the best all around sports bar in the City is located well outside the French Quarter, but very close to the St. Charles Streetcar line which runs to and from the Quarter. Cooter Brown's has the TVs and satellite packages, plus excellent bar food and an extensive beer selection, all at a reasonable price. See:

The Monteleone has TV's. It's smoke free. Coop's Place is also smoke free and has plenty of TV's.

Coops Place @ 1109 Decatur St., New Orleans, LA. 504 - 525 - 9053.

For future reference the best sports bar in NOLA is Finn McCool's in Mid City. Take the Canal Street Streetcar to S Jefferson Parkway. Get off and walk 3 blocks N to Telemachus Street. Turn left by Grace Episcopal Church and walk 3 blocks to Banks Street. Finn McCool's is on the right.

Finn McCool's Irish Pub @ 3701 Banks St., New Orleans, LA 504 - 486 - 9080.

Also for future reference. Take a cab Uptown to Cooter Brown's for another one of the best sports bar's and fine fresh oysters. Take the St. Charles Street Streetcar to S Carrollton. Get off and walk a block to your left towards the river. Ye Old College Inn is also a good place to watch the game and get good food and cold drinks. St. Charles Tavern is open 24/7 and they just remodeled the joint. They have a nice HH from 2/6 every day for 2/1 well drinks and $1.25 drafts.

Cooter Brown's Tavern @ 509 South Carrollton Ave., New Orleans, LA 504 - 866 - 9104.

St. Charles Tavern @ 1433 Saint Charles Avenue, New Orleans, LA 504 - 523 - 9823.

And Bruno's Tavern close to Tulane is excellent for sports and bar food.

Bruno's Tavern @ 7538 Maple Street, New Orleans, LA 504 - 861 - 7615.

Go to the corner of Bienville and Decatur. Club Decatur or Ryan's Irish Pub have TV's but neither is a sports bar. Both are great places to watch games with a lot of big screen TV's. Duck into one and then the other and decide which one your like.

Agree with Cooter Brown's recommendation. Got some huge Oysters there last week.
