Street Performers

We will be staying in the French Quarter on a Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Do the street performers take the early days of the week off since they have been entertaining larger crowds on the weekend?

How early do they get out on the streets? I am assuming that afternoons are the best time to catch them. How late in the evening do they typically stay?

What time do most shops open? I am assuming 10:00 am. How late do they stay open in the evening?

Thanx for your thoughts.

Most shops do open at 10 AM, but I think lots of them are flexible on what time they close depending on traffic that day.

Street performers usually start around lunch and are out pretty much every day. Watch for Dragon Master Showcase - these guys put on a great show including acrobatic, break dancing skits.

The Dragon Masters are AMAZING!!!!! They do their shows now on the concrete stairs/arena type area just across the street from Jackson Square. You will not regret seeing them!

Your best bet to find street music in the week is in Jackson Square and on Royal St (a small section of Royal is always closed).

We have been enjoying Valentino Georgievski for many years, although we haven't seen him the past couple trips. In this video (from 2004), he's at Jackson Square, although we usually saw him on Royal St. by the Supreme Court Building early afternoons. Loved his Sammy Davis Jr. marionette doing 'Mack the Knife'. Classic.

Has anyone seen him lately or know if he's still around?
