The Joint

We are looking at stopping at the Joint over Memorial Day Weekend, (as we tried some of there food at the French Quarter Festival)

What I am wondering is it all right to be walking there from the Quarter for a lunch..I see its just over a mile, but we are fine walking if all is good along the way..

Walk or cab is my question

depends on the time and how much you've been drinking! You may want to consider both--walk there, cab back!

Spend half a day in By Water. Walking is not bad in NOLA if you can stop and rest every so often. Walk to Lost Love Lounge for a few bloody mary's and then walk to The Joint or JD's for lunch about 1PM or so. Then walk to Markey's and hang out for a few hours. After a few there walk to Bacchanal and have a few drinks outdoors and then dinner. They might even feel like going by Vaughn's.Take a cab back. Pretty good plan.

I walked to that general area twice within one day, so I'd say it's doable. :) It will take a chunk of your day, but you will walk through a lovely neighborhood (just walk through the middle of the Bywater, like Royal or Dauphine, St. Claude is less interesting IMO, or interesting in a different way)

we did a bike tour thru the bywater and felt very safe, if you're just not sure about walking the distance, you could rent bikes by the day and bike over there-creates your own breeze which is nice!!!

You can also take the 5 Marigny - Bywater bus during the day...$1.25 ea. Pick up on N. Peters at the end of St. Philip. (by French Market). Get off at Poland....reboard in same intersection. Right, Rodent?

Bus...fast and air conditioned.

Fitch, I didn't take the #5, but a couple passed me as I was walking towards or sitting outside Satsuma Cafe, so I know they do run and yes, they're a good option too :). I've only taken the other one (the one that runs on St. Claude) part of the way back once.
