Help with airport shuttle timings

We are staying in the French Quarter (Prince Conti) and our flights from MSY is at 7.15am on a Friday. We are using a shared shuttle service to get to the airport and the pick up time they have given us is 2-3am! This sounds a bit early and I was going to ask to be picked up later.... I would really appreciate some advice as to what pick up time would be reasonable taking account of traffic etc. thanks!

I would just take a taxi at that time of day.

Absolutely, take a taxi. The shuttle requires a VERY early pickup because you may be the first of many stops before you get on the highway to the airport. But if you try to "fake" the system by giving a later flight time you may end up missing it entirely.

Seriously, a cab is the way to go especially at that time of day.

Have your hotel call for a taxi for 5:15. Then you have a 1/2 hour to get to the airport and then you're there 1 1/2 hours before your flight. That's what we did and it worked out perfectly.

If there are two of you, the cab is actually cheaper than the shuttle...cab is $33 plus tip...shuttle is (one way) $20 plus tip.
