There are very few who visit the French Quarter without getting their picture taken with the beautiful St Louis Cathedral as background. I have recently given some thought to what makes it such a superb building. I think the basic simplicity of the design, the three steeples, combined with the light gray paint, make it so striking. It is not overdone, like some cathedrals are, thus making it absolutely perfect for its location. Combine that with its fascinating history (stlouiscathedral.org/early_history.html) and it does indeed represent New Orleans and the French Quarter in an outstanding manner.
I would hope that those who visit Jackson Square also take a look at the inside and make a generous contribution to the upkeep of this historical treasure.
