Tableau v Muriel's

I'm planning a surprise trip for my wife's birthday at Halloween and am looking for a nice place for supper on her birthday. I've been looking online at either Muriel's at Jackson Square or the recently opened Tableau, which are very close to one another.

Any opinions? Any one tried either or both?

I've eaten at Muriel's-and it was outstanding. Haven't eaten at Tableau-yet.

Even tho Tableau has been getting great reviews I like to give a place a number of months shakedown...and Muriels you can go out on the balcony with drinks, see the seance' room, the

haunted table, and very good food..Chef Gus Martin worked a number of years as chef for a number

of the Brennan properties...at this point I'd go with Muriels

I love Muriel's too; outstanding service and food. I would highly recommend them. I have not eaten at Tableau so I can't give you an opinion on them.

100% agree with CajunYank although I haven't eaten at either place yet (both are on The List though, but Tableau's brunch is what is calling me)

My choice would be Muriels but The Pelican Club is outstanding too and they are offering an incredible summer menu. To check it out go to www.nomenu.com

I've eaten at both and both are excellent. Tableau has a beautiful courtyard and a balcony overlooking Jackson Square, as well. They set tables at either/both on pretty days/ nights.

okay guys...after a few e-mails, I have to say--the zip-line thing was a joke! :) No, we WON'T be zip lining over Jackson Square! (only if bcla comes! LOL!)

Actually, The Pelican Club was another I had thought about.

And given it'll be Halloween weekend, it'd be fun to go the haunted restaurant route with Muriel's.

Thanks all for your input.

Oh dear, Herm. Guess you're all safe from the zip-lining excursion.
