Gentilly area in NOLA

Is this a safe are to move to? We are couple retired but want to find a nice area to move to, with restaurants and jazz music places we can go to at night and feel safe.

The area you are describing sounds like the Marigny, which is located on the fringe of the French Quarter. It is filled with restaurants, jazz clubs, etc and very busy at night. The Gentilly area is nowhere near this area and is purely residential. Many of the areas in Gentilly are not safe , in my opinion. Do your research before you make any major commitment.

I wouldn't buy in the Gentilly, to be honest. The best thing you can do is contact a local realtor and ask yourselves how many nights a week you'll realistically be in a jazz club. I'm partial to uptown and the garden district for living day to day, safety and the huge amount of great restaurants and bars.

Latter and Blum is a good, reputable realty company in New Orleans. The person I have dealt with is Cindy Willard, 504-250-0598.
