Anyone familiar with this property? Looking for a more residential feel this trip. Thanks
Looks like a great deal and a wonderful spot, but you will get minimal sympathy on this forum because this is probably an unlicensed (and therefore illegal in New Orleans rental). Don't worry too much, about the illegal part, because responsibility and liability is on owner, not you. You can probably trust the reviews on the site.
People do this all the time all over the country and world and many are extremely happy with the results. Just be aware that these are buyer beware deals, so make sure your funds are going to proper owner. You should get confidence by speaking directly to owner, but if they ask you to forward deposit to Western Union in a foreign country...don't do it.
" responsibility and liability is on owner, not you" Remember, you need a partner to dance that dance Fitch.
Just mean that the law is geared to punish the owner of the property, not the renter.
I know lots of people who stay in places like this, (although have no knowlege of this one). Make sure you do NOT pay using a wire transfer at all, even in the US. Scammers like wire transfer because they are not reversable. Credit card is safest.Edited: 07 October 2013, 19:50
Though it is the owner who receives the "punishment" from the city if caught, it is the person staying in the apt. who can be asked to leave immediately by the city. Go to new.nola.gov/short-term-rentals.com for a list of "legal" rentals in the city....AND please note that if this rental happened to be in the building on Bourbon where I live, there are three long term tenants who will turn you/landlord/owner in to the city...me included. There are many problems associated with nice, well meaning folks who do not fully know the rules/regs of our building...gate security/entrance, trash pick up, noise levels, use of courtyard, etc. etc. etc. PLEASE use a rental approved by the city.
Thank you all for your great advise. We will proceed with caution for sure.
