YES!!! After my last experience with a cancelled flight, two hours on the phone (mostly ON HOLD) with someone in India, getting hung up on, calling back...that was IT for me. Now I book direct with Air Canada (like that direct flight!) and the hotel! I feel for you, coz I've been there, done that!

I may be a bit old fashioned but I prefer to book directly with a travel agent. I do all my research online but when it comes time to book its with an agent. Even with an agent there can still be flight issues (and there has been) but I leave all that dealing with them to straighten out.

Expedia is fine. As long as you don't have a problem. :)

In other words, if you save a few dollars and all goes well, you win. But I've seen more than a few threads on TA and elsewhere where people have some kind of issue and it turns out to be a nightmare getting resolution.

I'll stick with booking direct with the airline and hotels.

unfortunately we probably paid more with Expedia than booking separately

have always used a tour operator for our trips and never had this problem

Weather is always an issue. Get the airline apps. so you can find out where your plane is coming from. Over 3500 flights were cancelled in the south and east just yesterday.

I use customer service for both the airline and the travel site. This seems to work pretty good.

Check both web site and airlines and the you can make an informed deceision.

I always book directly with the airlines (United, mostly) and hotels. Rarely have problems with either, unless there was unexpected bad weather, which is not the airlines' fault.

Never a problem for us but we have a mix of agents, direct etc. depending on where traveled but Expedia has been OK.
