They do not have fridges in the room in fact prohibit coolers and ice chests...vieux carre wine and spirits is only a few short blocks away or Rouses at Royal $ St Peter.

Wow.. the Bourbon Orleans actually prohibits coolers? I was going to suggest getting one of those small cheap styro-foam coolers they sell at Rouse's... add some ice from the hotel ice machine and presto... cold beer. We have used them in the past for rooms without a fridge and without a problem.

The way around that is to bring your own cooler. You can buy a soft sided cooler that folds, just put it in your suitcase. But seriously, prohibiting coolers???

Larry/Janice, being NOLA I would be really surprised if they actually enforced that rule. On the other hand, if you want to be sure, Porelly's idea is great. We have a soft covered cooler that folds right down into nothing in luggage and works great. Try Canadian Tire where we got ours.

A lot of hotels have the "no cooler" rule. Most of them enforce it with some discretion. A middle-aged couple with a couple kids in tow bringing a small soft sided cooler through the doors might find themselves getting a lot less attention than 5 college-aged guys whooping their way through the lobby with 4 cases of beer and a 64-gallon "bait box. :)

I guess that's where we're different from each other. You check into any hotel on a Friday, at least here in the Canadian maratimes, and you'll see just as many coolers as suitcases on the bellhops trolley. :-) And if it's a hockey tournament week-end??? We're talking about 2 trolley's per room. He, heeee.
