Cabs from Dooky Chase

Are cabs easy to find there to head back to the FQ? Just flag one down out the front or somewhere else?

I'm guessing getting there will be easy from the FQ but I'm not sure about getting back.

Thanks.

If you don't have a cell phone, they can call one for you. It's doubtful you'll be able to flag one down!

P.S. LOVE your avatar! :)

Oh thanks, Hermicane. I hope my avatar has reassured you :-)

I'll have a cell phone but I don't know if it'll be working then. I'll need to get a sim card for use in the US and as NOLA is the first stop I'm not sure where to get one.

As Herm said, I'm sure they'll be more than happy to call a cab for you. Don't worry about that!

Thanks porelly too!

Just a general question about cabs, please. In general, can you just flag down a cab on the street like in other cities or should you always call for one? Yes, I'm a total newbie to NOLA.

In some areas it's very easy to flag one down. Others, not so much. It just depends on where you are, and when.

No need to worry about it, really. Either one will roll by in the street, or you'll see them lined up at hotels and other places, or you can ask the restaurant or bar or wherever to call one for you.

I had the number for United when we were at Willie so did not have to call right near there but a cab pulled up right then.

Thanks, cajunyank. I'm taking it that United is a big cab company in NOLA?

United seems to be the preferred cab company on TA...but, imho, a cab is a cab is a cab....

first one in line wins!!!
