Activities for traveling with older parents

We are heading to NOLA with my BF's older parents. One of them has trouble walking longer distances & for too long. Any suggestions on activities to do with them? Everything I think of requires a lot of walking. Even if it's in short spurts, it ends up being a lot. Any help is greatly appreciated!

First, if you're not staying in the French Quarter...rent a car. Considerable planning is a must, as well as accepting extra time must be allowed is a given. That said, here are my top recommendations based on your post:

St. Charles Streetcars - Vintage 1923- 24 cars (the real deal), they are all within the 900 series number on the front of the car. The route through the Garden District is exceptional. Check out places to eat along St. Charles, or stop at Camellia Grill for lunch or breakfast. (Personal favorite!)

Jackson Square and Cafe Du Monde - lots of benches and places to sit in the square with artists in the heart of New Orleans. Non stop stuff going on.

Horse and Carriage Tour/Ride - Catch that at Jackson Square on Decatur Street. It tours the French Quarter.

Harrah's Casino - If they like to gamble, this is the nicest Harrah's property in the states. Park free in their garage with a half hour play. Get the parking ticket validated in the casino, go to the Rapid Rewards desk BEFORE you start any gaming.

The WWII museum is always a favorite for all ages.

I'm 78 and lacking in mobility. I would strongly suggest a swamp tour.

I've seen a fair amount of older people doing Segway tours. A pedi-cab is also a great way to get the vibe of the city without walking all over.

Love the Segway tours. However, although it does away with the walking, it requires "standing" for almost 2 hours straight.
