Booking an apartment - Is Chalet Plus trustful?"

We booked an appartment on Chalet Plus, but they raise a bit unusual conditions. They ask the whole booking fee till december, but they will send the voucher only in February. They are also not willing to give any contact to the apartment, although we have already payed a part of the fee.

Though their webpage seems quite professional, I'm a bit worried. So if you have ever booked an accomodation on their site, or you know them, please let me know your experiences. thanks a lot!

Note that the firm you mention is most likely to be just a broker - not the actual owner of the apartment you wish to rent .

Do they wiah you to sign two agreements one for the apartment and another directly with them for services. ( they are a firm located in the Netherlands ) Do they have on site representatives ?

To me no contact / no contract for the apartment you need to know exactly what you rent and its location, amenities etc.

until this is satisfied - no deposit .

I would contact the tourist office in Saalbach and ask for info about this firm.

If active in Saalbach - they should know them.

Some false bank sites look professional and authentic- too late customers find them to be a false firm stealing monies.

As Vertical has already implied the company is probably an agent.

This statement from the Chalet plus website

"After you have finalized the booking, your application will be send to ChaletsPlus and checked. Within 24 hours ( or the first next workingday ) we send you a confirmation/invoice. You will find the payment details on that document"

You must therefore have already received this if you have paid a deposit.

Properties offered by this "agent" are also available direct on the www.saalbach.com official website

Interestingly the pictures are identical (down to the cowhide hocker) although for 11 February for a week the "bachgut" website quotes ~ €4000 chalet plus ~ €3000

and generally property listed …chaletsplus.com/chaletsplus/accommodaties.lp can be found in various forms by search for the same name on the official Saalbach website by putting the name/house owner in the search box.

You have not indicated EXACTLY which property you have rented so difficult to offer advice.

Asking for a deposit ( say 1/3rd of the price) well in advance is not ususual - in fact the norm and to ask for the balance 6-8 weeks in advance is also not unusual (Apartments as opposed to Hotels).

It may be that the Chalet you have booked is a direct Business (e.g. like the Bachgut which appears to be individual units possibly individually owned or leased through a company) and therefore not possible to have direct contact.

Family owned businesses a lot easier to deal with (on a personal basis) but you may see the same T&C as regards deposit/balance

Reading your posting more carefully - it seems that you have already paid a substanial deposit ..- thus locked in at this time.

Unfortunately you ask these questions after doing this.

I assume you have already read the firms website and are aware of the terms , condtions - some mentioned above. no need to repeat

For your " Peace of Mind " I would still contact the tourist office for any information they can supply regarding this firm and the apartment you have rented also.

This can do much to assist your comfort level.

For the future , many here prefer to rent directly from the on- site owner .rather than one hundreds of kilometers away

This saves many potential problems - especially if the rental agent has no " in the town staff" to assist you.

Often you can make any remaining paxment due upon arrival and inspection -helpful

Potential troubles with off site agents-

potential problem obtaining keys - especially true if arriving at odd hours. Potential trouble returning keys and having inspection to be certain all is in order. - You probably make a security/damage deposit and also a cleaning charge in advance.

Who do you contact with emergency troubles- ( heat, water, plumbing.) accidental damage , appliance troubles or instructions needed.

I hope that you have no such troubles - but the owner/ rent agent directly nearby can be most helpful.
