Many choices for this -

I mention 2 here that offer interesting scenery, sights and history.

Have a look to the websites as much tomention about these places and areas and perhaps best descibed on the web. english available too.

1 way - is to travel east toward bad Ischl-

Then Goisern- Bad Mitterndorf - Mariazell -Lilienfeld- Baden -Vienna.

www.bad-mitterndorf.at

www.mariazell.at the most important pilgrimage Church in Austria

www.lilienfeld.at

www.baden.at a famous spa, culture town.

The other route towrd Ebensse - Gmunden- a short ride on the A-1 autobahn to Linz - then cross the Danube near Mauthausen or Grein along the Danube to Melk - famous for the Abbey- into the Wachau area of the danube - passing vineyards , many pretty villages , Spitz , Weissenkirchen, Dürnstein then passing Krems onward to Vienna.

www.ebensee.at

www.traunsee.at

www.mauthausen.at

www.stiftmelk.at

www.weissenkirchen.at

www.wachau.at

www.duernstein.at

Both make for a great leisurly day trip , with most varied interests.
