Hut hiking

I am looking for a great three night, hut-to-hut hike in the Austrian/German Alps. It would be myself and three of my teenage children. My wife might join us mid trip by cable car. We are in good shape and would like to hike 5-6 hours each day. Suggestions?

I would check out Salzburg - maybe Hohe Tauern national park:

You could try the "Königsweg" at the Hochkönig. It is a hiking tour which consists of 4 sections:

Your wife can join you in the 3rd or 4th section.

for varied hiking in a perfect atmosphere I would recommend the Zillertal naturpark and Zillertal area

www.naturpark-zillertal.at

www.mayrhofen.at

nice towns with varied accomodations

in Mayrhofen, Ginzling, Finkenberg

The mountain guesthouse Breitlahner makes a good base too - this above Ginzling - good base for day hikes too.

Numerous mountain huts for day trips or hut to hut.

The famous Berliner Weg is located here. Berlinerhutte

Numerous lifts available for quick high access.

perhaps the better is the Ahornbahn from Mayrhofen
