Accomodations for 13 people ?

We are 13 middle aged people that will be camping/hiking for 2 weeks and would like inexpensive accomodations for the first night in Kona - any suggestions ? thanks

Manago Hotel in Captain Cook is a pretty good deal

They have pretty lenient cancelation policy.

About 40 minutes south of airport on main road.

Good jumping off spot if you are headed south to VNP.

They have some roll away beds if you need to get creative w/ bedding arrangements. We had three guys in single beds in one room for a night to avoid adding a room.

Spring for third floor rooms on w/ balconies w/ ocean view. Avoid older front of hotel cheap rooms w/ shared baths (way too noisy).

Dining room for breakfast is a bargain.

Check with Volcano National Park to see if they have any group camping sites maybe to reserve.

Group cabins at Kalopa State park on east side would be worth checking out as well.

Here's good run down on camping possibilities:

Try the Royal Kona Resort or the Seaside, both are about 8 miles south of the airport.
