certain type of condo

I have stayed at the Noelani Condos on Maui and absolutely loved them. You are right on the ocean, yet there is nothing fancy about them. There is a pool that is oceanfront, but that's it for amenities. Price is under $200 for sure in the summer. I would love to find a similar type of location on the Big Island. "Oceanfront" is the key word. Can anyone help?

The Kona Reef is oceanside and within walking distance of restaurants in Kailua-Kona. Most of them are individually owned, so you might get nice furnishings or outdated ones. We've stayed there and liked the oceanfront units. Not expensive either.

Aloha!

I highly recommend you look into the Sea Village. I have stayed in #3216 which was a great value and super clean and comfortable:

And having the Green Flash Coffee there was a nice bonus!

We also stayed at Sea Village and really enjoyed it. The pool area is very clean. We stayed on the bottom floor ...no elevators...so it was much easier.

We had AC in the bedroom only, which was fine.....just had to turn it on in the evening a cpl hours before bed time and it was nice in cool in there.

I am familiar with Noelani. I like that kind of place, too. I think this is comparable http://www.vrbo.com/135976

The owner is super nice and the rates are 170-180 for a 2 bedroom.

Kona Isle.....we've stayed there a few times.

Nothing fancy, decent pool, BBQ's next to the beach, grounds are well kept.

Building D & E are Oceanfront, maybe 60 yards from the water. We usually pay $100 to $125 per night, depending on the unit.

Bryan was the manager on our last trip (10/2011), nice guy, very helpful.
