Could someone from Seward identify the place in this picture?
That picture was taken from the shore on Lowell Point beach. You can see the buildings of town in the background.There is a gravel road that runs along the foot of the very dark/shadowed mountain. You can't see it in the picture but it's a very scenic drive with the mountain on one side and a drop off into the bay on the other. I've seen all kinds of wildlife including whales and porpiose while driving it and is also popular for fishing.
That photo was taken on the beach at Lowell Point in front of my house! Needless to say I have an awesome view! These trees are the remnants of the coastal forest that went right to the waters edge prior to the 1960 earthquake. You will see these ghost forests up and down the coast of Alaska and along Turnagain Arm.
