2 1/2 day itinerary

Hi,

We are 3 adults (couple+mom), driving up to Seattle from Portland on Apr. 18. We'll be staying in Seattle for 2 nights (4/18-19).

We're fairly outgoing, like nature plus the usual sightseeing and good food.

We were hoping to get some recommendations on what to do, which can include stuff on the way from Portland.

Thanks.

If you click on my name and look at inside page you will see a one day itinerary without a car. That will cover most of the highlights in the downtown area. You can easily add a ferry ride to Bainbridge Island, Aquarium on waterfront, Yukon Gold Rush Museum, Underground tour in Pioneer Sq. With a car I'd highly suggest a ride to top of queen anne hill to look at the view and a drive to Govt Locks, though too early for fish but still fun. Eat at Chinooks at Fishermans wharf while your there. Not too much to do on the way up, but Mt. St. Helens but that takes a good part of your day. Where are you staying?

Thanks for the tips. We'll be staying at the Watertown in the U-district. Do you think this is close enough? The downtown hotels are so expensive, doesn't seem to be worth the cost (not that this one is cheap by any means...).

Does anyone have recommendation for good evening events next weekend? e.g. music, shows, etc..

Are there any recommendations for some nice moderately priced restaurants (not inculuding seafood)?

Thanks.

I'd look in the two independent weeklies (the Stranger and the Seattle Weekly) for an idea of what's going on entertainment-wise next week. You could also look at some local blogs like Seattlest or Metroblogging Seattle and see what they say about concerts, shows, etc.

As for good food, reasonably priced--you have a lot of options. There's great Asian food in the International District. Others have commented on some restaurants in the ID in the forum who are more expert than I.

If you're willing to go a bit out of downtown into the Seattle neighborhoods (still within the city limits), there are some great places for local food, not completely seafood-based, that is not megaexpensive:

1. Eva in Greenlake

2. Cafe Lago in Montlake

3. Tutta Bella in Wallingford and Columbia City

4. Cafe Flora in Madison Valley

There are certainly many others--I'd check out Citysearch.com, or Egullet.org for options.
