whale watching

This is my first trip to the Seattle area, which will be the week of July 18-22. Can you tell me if the whales are plentiful during that time...do you think there is a good chance I will get to see them during that time? Where is the best spot, and best way to get there from Seattle?

There are some pods that make the San Juan's thier home so you would have a good chance of seeing them. You would have to take a boat trip though....

I would highly recommend a kayak tour. If you are in fair shape this is the best way to see any number of wild life (whales, dolphins, sea lions etc) in the San Juans up close. Here is a link to a great tour. http://sea-quest-kayak.com/wash1.htm

You can get an idea of the best times to see whales at this site.

I know plenty of people who have taken boat tours as well and have loved it, but the kayak tour is wonderful. You will have a great time no matter what tour you choose.
