Leavenworth / Cascades - suggestions

I'd like to explore the area in August - 2 night stay/3 days, parents with a 4 years old boy.

I'd like to stay for 2 nights in a charming, kid friendly hotel/lodge/b&b/cabin and explore the area.

We love beautiful scenary, nice villages, good food, easy hikes, anything that will be fun for the child.

Can you please suggest:

1. Where to stay?

2. What to do in the area?

3. Good restaurants, that are also kid friendly?

In Leavenworth, the Icicle Inn seems to be a good place for kids, though I have not stayed there. They do have a restaurant there as well.

The Enzian is a good alternative as well, with swimming pools and a good breakfast buffet (the kids always like the playing of the alpenhorn

You could do the "cascade loop" with a day in Leavenworth, and then travel to places like Chelan, Winthrop, and the North Cascades Highway

Here's what I did with my twin four year old boys several years ago:

Candy factory tour in Cashmere, WA:

Ohme Gardens: Green hilltop garden overlooking the Columbia River in a parched area. Kids like all the stonework: climbing stone steps and tables and chairs, winding paths to secret shaded pools, and then open lawns to run around.

Tour the Rocky Reach Dam. Impressive for its huge indoor space. Nice playground too.

Eagle Creek Cottage is a nice littel cabin/home to rent just outside of town. In town, we like Pension Anna. Get the chapel room, great with kids and very unique.

Wander Blackbird Island and play in the water there. Hike along Icicle Creek. Aplets and Cotlets factory tour in Cashmere.

Renaissance Cafe is good for lunch with kids as is Soup Cellar. Gingerbread Factory is always a must stop for us.
