July 4th at Pikes

Is Pikes Market closed on July 4th?

I will be in Seattle only one day, july 4th before driving up to La Conner for a wedding. I had wanted to do the Savor Seattle Food Tour, but noticed they did not offer tours on July 4. Will I still be able to do the market on my own? If so, what are some of the great things to try?

According to their website, they are open that day.

Pike Place Market is definitely open and will almost certainly be crowded and bustling.

There's another food tour outfit called "Taste Pike Place" that appears to be open on July 4th, so you might try that.

You can visit all of the places the tours go to on your own, but you'll just have to buy little small packs of things at each place instead of being allowed to sample as a group.

My favorite Pike Place Market food is a pork hombow from Mee Sum Pastry (They're $2.25 and it's kind of like sweet pork BBQ in soft white-bread roll.) Mee Sum is smack in the middle of the market on the main street, with a red and white sign.

Thank you for the suggestions, I think we might do it on our own as there is 4 of us. Do you have any other recommendations of places to stop and buy samples?

Samples? Unless with a tour, not many places provide samples. The market is quite an experience in itself and I would dine there, many places to choose from, but would not think it as a place to graze. It is, as you probably know, much more than a food market.

And to be a "native", it's "the market", or Pike Place.

Great views of Elliot Bay from there, also.

Have fun.

<<We actually are open for Pike Place Market tours on July 4th! Just added it to our website.>>

Disappointing! We, too, had wanted a July 4 Savor Seattle Food Tour but finally decided last weekend that we'd better book with another company.
