Hotel suggestion

I know that hotels by the water near Pikes market are expensive. Does anyone know the least expensive clean place in that area? We will need either a suite or two rooms as we are treating our adult children. We will be there 3 days before our Alaskan cruise and then one day afterwards. We do not have an exact budget. It is just the les we spend on the hotel, the more we can spend on other things

The Edgewater isn't very inexpensive, but it's right on the water (ON the water) and a short walk from the restaurants and shops of Belltown.

The Inn at the Harbor Steps is at the other end of 1st Avenue, between the Pikes Place Market and Pioneer Square. Most rooms have partial views of Elliott Bay, and the hotel is quite a bit less expensive - and the rooms are substantial (suite-like, in comparison to The Edgewater's tiny rooms). Pikes Place market is two blocks north, Pioneer Square is four blocks south, and restaurants are all around.

I know there are other hotels on or very near the water, but I've not stayed in them.

I can't quite tell if you need to be by the water or want to be centrally located by the Market. If the latter, then look at the Mayflower Park and the Andra as well. The Mayflower Park has some rooms with 2 bathrooms that work well for families, and the Lux Suites at the Andra can work for families as well as there is a pullout and room for a rollaway.

The Mayflower Park Hotel or the Warwick are my two best mid-priced suggestions.

If you need less expensive, then you're into the "motel" category like 6th Ave Inn, 8th Ave Inn, Days Inn, La Quinta, etc. which are all near to each other at the north end of downtown.

The Mayflower Park and the Warwick (in that order) are also my favorite reasonably priced hotels in downtown Seattle. They're not on the waterfront, but a relatively short walk from it (~ 6 block).

Yes, the area where the motels are is safe--of course as in any urban area you want to be aware of your surroundings.

Any of those will be within about 10-12 blocks of Pike Place Market (or just "the Market" NOT Pike's Market ;-)).

Yes the area with the motels is safe enough. If you're looking at a street map it's the general area around Lenora Street between 6th and 8th, approximately. It's kind of ugly, like with car dealerships, but safe and clean as much as anywhere else in the downtown area.

It's about a 10-15 min. walk to get down to the Pike Place Market from there.
