breakfast/brunch place similar to Panera or Corner Bakery

hi,

i love something along the lines of Corner Bakery or Panera where you have fresh bake goods. Easy to pick up and just go if we have tours.

anything similar to that? or anything inexpensive, but really good.

thanks again for any input.

amanda :)

Pike's Market has numerous places to pick up baked goods, sandwiches, piroshki, cheeses, borek, dumplings, etc... If you prefer the French style, Le Pannier is good. There are also some wonderful chocolate places in the area. Look (and sniff) around. It's crowded and touristy but fun.

I am not familiar with the two you mention so don't know if these compare (lol)!

My favorite downtown Seattle bakeries are La Panier in the Market, Dahlia Bakery on 4th, Macrina on 1st... and of course the famous Top Pot Donuts on 5th.

If you want a chain, like Panera, there are a few in the area. You didn't say what part of town you are in, but look for Specialtys www.specialtysdirect.com/home_stores.asp… Paneras are mostly in the malls.

Or go for local places, like Pike Place Market or Macrena.

Panera is not as common here as in other parts of the country. Mostly in outlying suburban locations. Downtown my recs would send you to:

Pike Place Market: Le Panier, Three Girls Bakery

Belltown: Macrina Bakery, Dahlia Bakery, Top Pot Donuts

Pacific Place Center: Il Fornio

Know that there is coffee on just about every corner, many with grab 'n go pastries, sandwiches, etc. We have some pretty terrific independent coffee houses, everyone has their favorite. Starbucks continues to have their breakfast sandwiches here, as well as local vendors (ie; Top Pot Donuts).

Dahlia Bakery has a few hot breakfast items, besides their excellent baked goods, and later on for lunch soup, salads and sandwiches for lunch. On 4th Avenue.

Are you looking for a place with seating? Or just to pick up something to-go?
