Best way to explore the beer scene in Seattle?

I have a friend coming into town and he wants to explore the Seattle and NW beer scene. I'm from Seattle but don't know the best way to approach this. He's coming into town on September 10th.

Is there a particular area or a particular brewery that would be the best way to do this? Are there any sort of brew tours that anyone knows of? Any thoughts/advice on this? Thanks!

Start with this brewmap and go from there.

I would recommend starting off at Brouwers in Fremont to get an exhaustive into to local beers. They have tons of really great local beers on tap. Then I'd suggest you check out some local breweries. On Saturdays you can hit up Trade Route, Baron, and Schooner Exact-all in the same industrial complex in South Park. There's also Redhook for a more commercial experience and "tour" and the newly opened Black Raven in Redmond. If you're lookin for a real tour, redhook is the largest and most organized, but it's really just an excuse to drink and is light on the info side. Check out the Washington beer commission's website for a full list of local breweries. Have fun!!

If you're lucky, the annual Fremont Oktoberfest might be going on around then. Dates haven't been posted yet but it usually happens in mid-September, and they have a beer garden with over 35 microbreweries.
