Cruise 8am-6pm in Seattle

Need suggestions on what to see in Seattle. Will be in Seattle for about 8 hrs and what is doable by public transportation from Pier. Pike Market, Underground tours,(dont even know where and what it entails), Seattle Centre, downtown, International distrcit, what can be accomodated within the short time. Any recommendations would be most appreciated.

Thanks so much

Look on the right hand side of this page. It has suggestions for Seattle without a car. On the left are lists of things to do. Google will show maps of Seattle.

Most of the places you list are in the downtown area (except Seattle Center which is very close on foot, by Monorail or by public transit). There is a transit 'ride free area' in downtown Seattle. You can use this map to help you plan your day:

As suggested above Google maps is your friend - use it to locate the various attractions and map out your day.

don't know which pier you arrive. If 66 then very easy as there is a free bus route that will take you lots of the places you mention. If 91 I'd take a short cab ride to the waterfront or to the Pike Place Mkt.

Underground Seattle tour is sort of hokey but still interesting. Like going in a cave it involves a certain amount of ducking under and stepping over things. If interested in history it is very good. It is at Pioneer Square, an area that was formerly sort of seedy but has improved a lot with restuarants and entertainment related to the nearby stadiums and ball park.

If interested in rock music, Jimi Hendrix or especially electric guitars then the Experience Music Project (EMP) at Seattle Center is a must see. Great collection of the "history of the electric guitar". Part of the same odd looking building is the Science Fiction Museum so if there is interest in that the collection is excellent. But then I'm a guitar playing science fiction reader so sort of biased.

Along the waterfront check out the Ye Olde Curiosity Shop. Some interesting things on display in there. Free unless you buy stuff.
