Mt Rainer

Thinking of visiting Mt Rainer Oct 1-8. What is it like this time of year? We like moderate hikes of 3-5mi, scenic drives, wildlife.

Also considering the Cascades.

1. Re: Mt Rainer

It could be very nice and tinged with fall colors, or it could be very cool and rainy. Snow is even a possibility, though I typically hike through the end of October with no snow on the trail. I LOVE hiking around Rainier on a sunny October day--the huckleberry plants are bright red, the crowds are gone, there is fresh snow on the peaks above, and the elk are bugling. So, just keep your plans open and play it by ear, depending on the weather.

FYI Rainier is part of the Cascades.
