Hi Loan,

This time of year, the Pike Place Market is busy pretty much constantly. If you want to avoid the crowds, try a weekday after 1pm. That still gives you plenty of time to walk around and the crowds won't be as large. Even at the peak, you can still get around the market fairly quickly, it is just the most popular places that are problematic. There will be a crowd at The Daily Dozen, the fish market, Pike Place Chowder, and the original Starbucks but those are the worst spots.

We are doing a Sacramento,CA drive tthru Oregon, Washington, Vancouver, and down the coast and back. Leaving on thurs afternoon june 28th fro california and sleeping over between medford and eugene. Leaving Fri leisurely to seattle and spending a night there. We have to see Pike Market on SaturdayJune 30th. and head to Vancouver afterwards. Do you have any recommendations? Thanks so much for your advice.

Least busy time would be early in the morning while the vendors are getting set up. By lunchtime and mid-afternoon most of the street-level shops & vendor stalls are very crowded with people. Maybe have breakfast, then have a look around before the crowds arrive?

Please take a look at the market's web site & map out your visit to maximize your time there. Hours & vendor/business listings: http://pikeplacemarket.org/

The Market's always busy. Stay at any hotel in downtown Seattle.

I saw that breakfast starts at 6 am. Being there at opening 9 is ok? I am planning to book a room at four points by Sheraton on 601 Roy st. Is it walk- able for 3yo and healthy 74yo?

It would be over a one mile walk however that hotels I believe offers a shuttle. Personally I'd go as early as you can. Weekends when the cruise ships are in town many people kill time before and after by going to the mkt adding thousands of people to the mix, so going early is definitely good.

Hotels in the central downtown area (therefore closer to the Market) include: Westin, Mayflower Park, Roosevelt, Sheraton, Hotel Andra, Warwick, Hotel Max, to name just a few.

You can pick up a map of the Market (showing the various buildings and levels) from the tourist booth at the main "entrance", which is 1st Ave at Pike. I put entrance in quotes because really you can walk into the Market anywhere along that stretch of 1st Ave just by dropping down the hill one block.

The Market is a short walk, cab or bus ride from many downtown hotels. I would pick a hotel based on price, amenities, personal preferences, etc.

Google maps is your friend. :) http://goo.gl/maps/VBAj

Market map & directory: pikeplacemarket.org/explore_the_market/marke…

The 'fish toss' you're thinking of is Pike Place Fish Market located (inside) at the corner of Pike Street & Pike Place (near the brass pig). Please do look at the Market web site & see what interests you. Business are organized by category & when you click on the name it will direct you to which area of the market they're located & gives the business' web site as well.
