amtrac business class vancouver to seattle

Can someone tell me how to reserve a seat on this service. We have booked and paid via the internet from New Zealand but were told we could not reserve our seats it was on a first come first serve bases. Is this correct?. Also travelling south which side should we sit on for the best view. We travel tomorrow so your help would be appreciated asap. Ta

Right (water) side for best view. No clue on the reservation question.

We usually book business class when traveling between Salem, OR, and Seattle. You do not reserve specific seats, but the class of travel (business has its own cars, different than regular coach). Seats are roomier and more comfortable, plus you get credit for food. Well worth the additional cost (which really isn't all that much).

amtrak.com

you should be able to add business class if available

you can also phone

1-800-usa rail.

its free from any payphone. If you can't add after purchase you may try at the station however one of the pros of buying in advance is it lets you preboard. Frankly you'll enjoy the ride even in coach so no worries if you don't get it.

If its important go to Pacific Station tonite when an agent is present

You can purchase either coach or business class on the Amtrak Cascades trains (#500's) between Vancouver, BC & Eugene, Oregon.

You can't pick your seat ahead of time (online or over the phone). Seats are assigned by the conductor/attendant when you check in at the podium.

Business class cars are a seating configuration of 2, 1 (2 seats one side of the aisle, 1 on the other side).

I prefer to sit on the right-hand side traveling southbound for the best water views. Not sure which side will have 1 seat or 2 as they rotate each seat & not the whole car to travel in opposite direction. (I think it's 1 seat on the right side for Southbound.) It sounds like there's at least 2 of you, so ask the conductor at check-in to ensure your seating preference.

Free WiFi on board so bring your laptop, tablet, etc. Don't forget to look at the ceiling in the 'bistro' car as there's a neat map of the Pacific NW which shows the trains' route.

like everyone says, you can't pick your seats ahead of time but the attendant at the station (who will probably also ride with you) will assign the seats. seats are first come first served though so get there early as the business class car is 2 seats on one side, 1 seat on the other.

imo Amtrak does a good job of making it's business class passengers feel like rock stars. :)

Hello, did you ever get an answer on your question? We are traveling Portland to Seattle June 3 and have the same questions.

Is the additional fare for business class worth the $$?

Which side has the best views?

Any other tips would be appreciated!

Sheila
