Bainbridge or Bremerton

Hi. My friend and I will be in Seattle next weekend (my first time). We would like to do a day trip by ferry on Sunday to either Bainbridge or Bremerton.

Is there a large difference in scenery on one ride or the other?Assuming it will be on the chilly side and possibly raining, would love some input on which is the better option and has more to do. We'd like to possibly do some shopping. have a nice leisurely lunch and check out art galleries or a small museum.

We picked these options because they seem the easiest for a short trip but welcome other suggestions.

Thanks.

More scenery and boat time (1 hour), Bremerton.

More shopping and nice walk, Bainbridge Island. (1/2 hour)

You won't need a day trip for either, less than a half day depending on what you want to visit. Will you have a car? If not, at Bainbridge you can walk a few blocks from the ferry terminal into the town of BI.

I'd Google both cities/towns, see what appeals to you. for most tourists, I'd suggest BI. You'll enjoy the views from either route.

If you have a car, I'd definitely drive a round trip via Whidbey Island instead or in addition to the above.

Whidbey Island WI is a great day or more getaway with many features of the Pacific NW; this TA article includes key websites, tours, maps. tripadvisor.com/Travel-g58824-s2/Whidbey-Isl…

Thanks for the help. We were not planning on renting a car but Whidbey sounds great so maybe we will look into Whidbey and decide whether it's worth it to rent one for a day.

Bainbridge has what you want. Bremerton is a Navy town--not the place to go for art galleries, walking and shopping.

For just the walkon ferry ride, it's Bainbridge. It is a fairly upscale, commuter area, with a couple of interesting shops , restaurants, just 2 blocks from the ferry landing.

For a full day excursion, Whidbey is terrific, with charming towns, shopping, galleries, beaches, and wonderful state & national parks.

Definitely Bainbridge!

It's a quiet town, homey and cozy. It's one of those towns were everyone knows your name if you live there. I go there once a year for the parade, and love the state park. If you like to just relax on the beach, and watch the big cruise ships heading from Seattle to Alaska etc. this is a great beach. We camped there 2 years ago, and I can't wait to go back. Lot's of million dollar houses to drive around and look at too. Bremerton is a Navy town, not very pretty, and everyone is always in a hurry. If you go to Bainbridge, there is also the Clear water Casino, if you like to gamble. Nightly music, and free shuttles from Bainbridge, Port Orchard, and Seattle. The casino has a great Steak house, kinda of spendy, but you can try the all you can eat buffet, which is great and reasonably priced. Hope this helps, have a great weekend. Terri

Bainbridge Island, no contest. 1/2 hour ride over and 1/2 hour back. A cute little "main street" area on the other side you can walk to for shopping and lunch.

The ferry ride to Bremerton is longer and more interesting.
