Seattle/Oregon Vacation

Need help planning vacation to Seattle & Oregon. We are flying in and out of Seattle. What are the highlights in Seattle and where should we stay (there are 6 of us), but we also want to go to the beach. Heard Cannon beach is beautiful! Are there houses or condos for rent on the beach? How far of a drive is to between Seattle and Cannon beach? thansk

When? How many days/nights?

Google Maps, your friend, says Seattle to Cannon Beach - 3 - 4 hours (or more depending on which route and traffic).

CB is a small, artsy town with a beautiful beach including iconic Haystack Rock, and Ecola State Park adjacent and north. Nice place, decent dining.

I'd Google CB, Lodging, and see what appeals to you. In summer, many places there require a minimum of two nights lodging, more for homes.

You need to study the size of this area and what you want to see with Google Maps on screen.. Select "Things to Do" for Seattle area (on this forum), ditto, the OR Coast Forum. See what might work for you and post back.

With postings on both the Seattle and Oregon forums, you're apt to get lots of scattered responses....all needing more information from you to make them useful. The Oregon coast offers many options in addition to Cannon Beach, particularly if budget is a factor. Cannon Beach is more expensive than lots of nice places further south...like Cape Kiwanda or Yachats.

And, while it's only a 3-hour drive from Seattle to Portland and a little more if you cut over to Astoria and the coast, I have to wonder if you really don't want to also see Mt. Rainier, Mt. St. Helens, the Columbia Gorge, Portland, the Willamette Valley wine country, etc. And what do you want to do when you get to your beach house...just stay there or go hiking, tidepooling, sightseeing, etc.?

Voyaging is right. You need to do some homework and get back to us with more specific info.
