Seattle for 3 days in late April

We will be staying by the waterfront for 3 days, planning on walking to most of the things we want to see...pikes place, space needle, chihuly exhibit, pioneer village, etc and are thinking of renting a car for the last day and taking a drive before heading to Vancouver on day 4. Does this make sense....and where should we drive to...love scenic places, wineries...thought we would do to the Ballard locks. From Vancouver we are taking the ferry to Victoria for two nights and then the ferry back to Seattle.

Advice???

Welcome to the Forum.

Note that there is no ferry from Victoria to Seattle, unless you are thinking of the passenger only Victoria Clipper. Otherwise, by car, BC Ferry to the mainland; WA State Ferry to Anacortes; or Coho Ferry to Port Angeles. Be aware of the schedules and how they fit into your, presumed, flight schedule.

I'm sure you mean Pike Place Market and Pioneer Square; otherwise, you'll be defined as a tourist!

A day drive, Whidbey Island, see article, below. Round trip, Seattle, as described, or drive north on WI en route to Vancouver, BC.

I agree with the items listed for Seattle.

If you like wineries, after you visit the Ballard Locks, you could continue north to Woodinville. It would be about a half-hour drive, so an easy afternoon trip. Find info at http://woodinvillewinecountry.com/ or www.gotastewine.com/woodinville-wineries.php. Note that you won't see the actual vineyards here, as the grapes are grown on the east side of the mountains, but there are a lot of folks making wine here, and also some of the Eastern Washington wineries have tasting rooms in Woodinville.

Another scenic spot you might be interested in with a car is Snoqualmie Falls, about a half hour east of the city, across the I-90 floating bridge.

FYI, I would avoid driving across the 520 bridge with a rental car. It's a toll bridge, with electronic tolling only (no booths), and if you don't have a windshield sticker and account set up, it can be an expensive surprise when the rental agency tacks on a large administrative fee.
