Distance from downtown Seattle to Mt Ranier

We are going for a weekend coming up in September. I would love to hike Mt Ranier, but am not sure how far its is. Any input? Thanks!

It's about 2 hours to the park edge at either the Longmire or NE entrance, and then it just depends on what hike you want to do as to how much longer you'll drive. There are hikes right on Hwy 410 that are only 2:15 from Seattle; if you want to go to Paradise visitor center, it's about 2:45, and Sunrise visitor center is about 3 hours. People from Seattle do day hikes there all the time though many of us avoid the visitor center areas and so the drive is a bit shorter. There is also the unpaved road that leads to the Carbon River/Mowich Lake entrance which leads to hikes in around 2 hours.

If you have a car I would highly recommend a September day trip or overnight. It is a long but doable day trip. Count on 6 hours total driving including inside the park and 3-6 hours for hiking, photo stops along the drive (inside the park) and maybe the visitor center at paradise .
