So, from reading your semi-cryptic post, you are looking for a restaurant someplace in the Seattle where you can see Mt. Rainier, and the restaurant has a bar? Chuck.

When are you talking about. Why not go for the best view you can imagine and stay at Paradise Inn in the Park.

Today is a beautiful and clear day. You can see Mt Rainier in the distance from hundreds of locations.

Do you want to go to Mt Rainier National Park and walk around some of the paths, check out views from the visitor center or nearby, stop on the road for more great views? Or do you just want to see the mountain?

If the weather is clear, Seattle is a great place from which to view the mountain without driving...Columbia Tower, Space Needle, Kerry Park, etc. The Black Diamond bakery (restaurant) has a wall-sized picture window and the mountain absolutely fills it...on a nice day; but Black Diamond has no other tourist attractions. As suggested, Paradise Inn is ideal...but once again you have to drive and there is no nightlife nearby.

The mountain is so doggone big that you can get a good view from dozens of locations.

What time of year? Critical info. I second the idea of Paradise Inn. Spectacular views on the way and once you're there (5,000' up on the mountain), and you can get food and drink there. Rooms are basic and no real nightlife, but beautiful. We got some pretty great views from towns close to Seattle (e.g., Bonney Lake) if you don't want to drive as far.

No, there is not a town near Mt Rainier that gives you a great view and has a variety of restaurants and bars that is pedestrian friendly. The prime tourist season is very short--only about 2 months--and much of the park is closed Oct-May. And, this is a place that's easily a day trip from the Seattle metro area. So there is not a real town that has the amenities, pedestrian friendliness and views you want. Ashford is the only thing close to a town near the park, but you can't see the mountain from town, and it's rather spread out with only a few places to eat and drink.

I recommend what others have already said--stay at Paradise Inn, in the park. There are no better views, and while there's only the one restaurant, your location will make up for it. Longmire (National Park Inn) would be a second choice.
