Day Trips from Seattle

I will be visiting Seattle for 2-3 full days. Other than seeing the main sights in the city, are there any good day trips to take that don't require a car (can be accessed with public transportation or on a tour)? I will also be visiting Vancouver.

That's a bad time to visit, relatively speaking. March is cold, wet, and very windy. The mountains will be under heavy snow, and, in the case of Mt. Rainier and Mt. St. Helens, probably fogged in. It's virtually impossible to see Whidbey Island, which is otherwise a good day trip, without a car. Olympic National Park is too far away. You do not have much time, and you can put what time you do have to better use by staying in Seattle. There is more than enough to see in 2 to 3 days.

Walk on the Bainbridge Island Ferry from downtown. It's a 35 minute ferry ride. Once there, walk the couple blocks to downtown Bainbridge, stroll the shops, grab a bite to eat. Check out the the Bainbridge Museum of Art, if that interests you. If the weather is nice, take a cab to Bloedel Reserve, a fabulous public garden. http://www.bloedelreserve.org

Or, if you would like a more extensive tour, see what Kitsap Tours has for your dates.

Consider taking a tour to the Boeing Factory, located north of downtown in Everett. Seattle Tours offers transportation + regularly scheduled tours. www.seattletours.us/…

Enjoy wine? or beer? Tour the Woodinville Wine Country. Several companies offer tours that include Snoqualmie Falls followed by stops in Wine Country. About 25 minutes outside of Seattle. Brewery/Beer Tours are also quite popular. There are tours in Seattle and throughout the Puget Sound.
