It is a just behind the Fairmont Olympic on 4th Avenue between Spring and Seneca in the central part of downtown. It is close to the retail shopping core of the city, the library, the concert hall, the 5th Avenue Theater. Pike Place Market is about .4 miles. The hotel is close to most major bus lines and is walkable to the core area of downtown (from Pioneer Square to Pike Place Market and Belltown). I consider that part of downtown safe.

Just keep in mind that Seattle rises very steeply away from the waterfront. So walking towards 1st avenue on Seneca or Spring (the closest two E-W streets to the hotel) is a steep walk downhill and conversely you will be looking at a steep walk uphill on either of those streets. However as you go north the change from 1st to 4th. So going back and forth to Pike Place Market (for example entering at the southern end of the market at First and Pike) is easy enough. You would take 4th north to Pike and then left to the market. Seneca and Spring, the closest E-W cross streets are very steep. Going to the Seattle Art Museum I would take 4th to Union.
