One day (two nights) in Seattle-Hotel recommendations

We are spending one day in Seattle (two nights) in July with our 15 year old daughter (she is participating 3 days prior in a softball college showcase in Centralia). We want to go to Pike Place Market, possibly do a ferry ride and/or check out the waterfront. It looks like the downtown hotels are pretty spendy so would be interested in a hotel with ferry or lite rail access to Pike Place as we would rather not drive around Seattle. Any suggestions???? Thanks!!!!!!

The Link Light Rail goes from SEATAC to downtown. Other than airport hotels (which we we don't typically recommend) there are not hotels along the way.

What exactly is your budget? And what type of hotel are you looking for? There are some hotels beyond the downtown core that are more budget friendly and can work for those without a car.

We will have a car but we want to avoid driving as much as possible as we aren't familiar with the area/traffic/parking. We are looking for a nice hotel but not extravagant - we typically stay in Hilton or Marriott properties when we travel.

I don't usually recommend the airport hotels but they are less expensive than downtown, and on the LightRail line. It's just not a very pretty area (commercial/industrial) or particularly convenient.

Have you checked... Mediterranean Inn and Marqueen (those are on Queen Anne near the Seattle Center)? Or more central location but most reasonably priced of the downtown hotels: Roosevelt, Hotel Max, The Warwick?

We just got back from a quick trip into Seattle. We flew into SeaTac and took the $2.75 light rail to the Westlake station which is right in downtown. We walked 2 blocks to Hotel Andra which is a nice, boutique hotel. It is a 5 minute walk to Pikes and maybe 10 to Seattle Center/Space Needle from there. And if you need to get around town, it is easy to get back on the light rail or monorail. Enjoy.
