Lake Diablo hike

Has anyone done this hike? recommend? I think it is about 8 miles total which concerns me a little bit but not sure if it is pretty manageable or not. I live in the east coast and do some hiking but the hikes are usually about 4 miles total.

I've never done this because the power lines and dam views don't sound very appealing to me. It's in the recreation area, not the national park. There is elevation gain which is likely to cause more issues than the length, if you aren't used to it. Are you continuing east from there? If so, do Heather Pass. You don't have to go all the way to Maple Pass and do the whole loop if you don't feel up for it. Heather Pass is actually shorter and has less elevation gain than the Diablo Lake trail, and it's a spectacular hike.
