Farmers Market end of June

I'm curious about what might be found, plant and vegetable wise, at the Anchorage Farmer's Market the end of June (6/28).

My son is a plant sciences major and works during the summer at a farmer's market here in OK. I thought that he might be interested in seeing some of the produce in Alaska. A friend said that it might not be interesting in June because it was too early in the growing season for the BIG vegetables we hear about.

We'll be in Alaska 6/20 - 6/29. The general plan is Denali, Matanuska Glacier, Seward, back to Anchorage. Are there other markets that might be interesting? We would have time for a stop off if there was a market along the way.

Thanks for all your great help on this forum.

The end of June is too early. You might find some cool weather, fast growing things such as radishes or produce grown in a greenhouse at the weekend market in Anc.

Girdwood has had a little farmer's market/craft gathering on weekends. Look for signs along the road if they are having it.

Moose Pass has a summer solstice festival June 20-21st if your heading that way 1st, though no produce.

Thanks for your reply, GlacierLady.

Too bad its too early in the season for the produce - but, it will leave us more time for something else. :)

You'll just have to come back again at the end of August for the state fair! ;)
