looking for the closest decent hotel to the airport

Hi ...I need to find a decent hotel near the airport in Anchorage as hubby will be coming off of a 6 day day fly fishing trip in the wilderness and wants to sleep in a REAL bed before he travels home.

Any Ideas?

Thank you!

Terresa

Courtyard by Marriott is close and nice. The one time I stayed there the staff dropped the ball on making sure the airport shuttle driver knew I was waiting for a shuttle, so stay on top of them.

They have a "Bistro" for buying meals, but I thought it was overpriced.

But that would still be my recommendation.

There's also the Microtel close by too.

Most of the chain hotels in Anchorage offer an airport shuttle, so he may not need to stay too close.

I would also check priceline and hotwire in addition to the suggestion above for finding a hotel near the airport or one w/shuttle. :)

"close to the airport" is sort of a relevant term as most everything in Anchorage is within 15 or 20 minutes (I'm on the east side of town and I take 20 minutes) of the airport. Given that, I'd pick a hotel you feel comfortable with.

Good luck,

Scott

The Fairfield Inn, SpringHill Suites and Hilton Garden Inn are all in midtown, but close to the airport and I believe they all have shuttles.? I have stayed at all 3 and they are fine. The Comfortt Suites is closer to the airport and that is ok too. Depends on your budget.

I have yet to stay but there are reviews here for Deals B&B only 1 mile from the airport.

tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g60880-d72212-R…

I booked it for Aug.23 will report back once we stay.

Many B&B's have a better price than hotels.

The Anchorage-Midtown Crowne Plaza is right on International Airport Road, within just a few minutes of the airport.

We stayed at the Microtel for one night on our trip in December of last year and thought it was good. They are just off Airport Rd on Northwood - literally a couple of minutes away from the terminal.

It's an all suite hotel, and the sitting area was nice for laying out our damp clothing to dry. We got a good rate through AAA - I think it was under $100 a night. I would stay there again if we are ever in the area.
