The Michelin road map shows the boat from Fouras as a "bac", which is a small vehicle ferry. It is a tiny island, and a car would not seem necessary. There is a large parking lot at Fouras near the ferry terminal.
It is free for the first 30 minutes (or maybe 60). After that you have to pay.
thanks for the info
Yes, the car park by the ferry is payable after 30 mins. I don't remember how much it was after that.
But further down in Fouras town itself there is a large car park by the castle - which is free. So if you want to go to the beach(es) or into town it is very simple to park up and not worry.
Oh yes, there is a huge free car park by the Vauban fortress, but that is almost 2 miles from the ferry.
thanks for the info - much appreciated
thanks for the reply. Present thinking is to avoid the coast maybe, and drive down to the the Dordogne instead. So many options - that's why i like driving to France !
