One night in Cambridge - best place to eat lunch and dinner?

We're staying overnight at the Hyatt Regency on Memorial Drive, arriving at Logan at noon. We've never been to the Boston/Cambridge area before. Where should we eat? We like seafood, burgers, regular good food but don't care for Asian or Indian that much. We can spend some money on each meal but don't require the most expensive or most gourmet places either.

Hyatt is a nice hotel but is not near anything. If good weather you can walk to Central Square in 20 minutes.

Make sure you get a view of the Charles River and hopefully one right in Front and pointing to Boston.

If you head to Harvard Square there is Bartley's Burgers, Grendel's Kitchen for lunch. The Charles Hotel has a few places to look into for dinner.

You can walk over the BU Bridge in 10 minutes and catch a bus to Kenmore a trolley into Boston.

If you are meat eaters and hungry, try the amazing all-you-can-eat Brazilian barbeque and buffet at Midwest Grill.

The waiters come around and carve the sirloin, lamb, chicken breast in bacon, pork, etc. off the sword and onto your plate. Midwest Grill is located in Inman Square, not far from the hotel (short taxi ride), near the intersection of Prospect and Cambridge Street on this hotel map:

If you are seafood lovers, try Muqueca, another Brazilian restaurant, on the corner almost directly across Cambridge Street, for a tasty seafood stew made with coconut milk, or other delights. Fish with shrimp is one of the most traditional moquecas.

And if you still have room for dessert, some of the best ice cream anywhere is made at Christina's, just down the street.

If the weather is good and you're not too full, you can walk up Cambridge Street to Harvard Square (10-15 minutes) or take the bus, to do some sightseeing.

Do you need to stay near the hotel for dinner for any reason? You can get anywhere in Boston/Cambridge either by walking to the T or taking a cab.

You could hop in a taxi from your hotel & about 5 may be 10 minutes away or so is a Legal Seafood restaurant, it's at 5 Cambridge Center in Kendall Square. (It's my favorite one!) You could go there for lunch or dinner, if you get the chance:

Definitely try to get to Mr. Bartley's Burgers, it's next to the Harvard Book Store & the Hong Kong on Mass. Ave.

The Cambridgeside Galleria has a Cheesecake Factory & a California Pizza Kitchen OR you could hop in a taxi or walk if the weather is nice when you're here to the North End for a pizza @ the Pizzeria Regina on Thatcher Street.

SO SO many choices for lunch or dinner right in Boston & Cambridge at your fingertips. There's this great steakhouse in No. Cambridge called Frank's Steakhouse that's supposed to be on my agenda one of these days that you could check out if you get the chance:

GOOD LUCK!

I agree that the Kendall Square Legals is the best location.

This may be too exotic, but Oleana Restaurant just outside Inman Square - and a brief walk from your hotel - is rated one of the best in all of Boston. It's Mediterranean (did I spell that right?) =)

The owner/chef has one many awards and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. Lots of vegetarian options (if anyone in your party is)...

You can see the menu here:

Or go see the reviews on Yelp.
